Care will not change despite hospital buyout, officials say
Full Description:
Tetanus shots will continue to sting and newborns will keep wailing at Northwest-area hospitals, despite the Feb. 5 announcement of their parent corporation’s agreement to a private buyout worth $6.4 billion.
The deal will hand Dallas-based Triad Hospitals Inc. over to private-equity houses CCMP Capital Advisors and GS Capital Partners for nearly $4.4 billion, plus a takeover of $1.8 billion in debt, upon approval of Triad’s stockholders.
Triad operates 54 hospitals and 13 smaller surgery centers throughout 17 states, with almost 10,000 beds. Four of those sites — including both Northwest Medical Center locations — are located between Oro Valley and Tucson, according to Triad’s Web site.
Few eyebrows were raised over the deal among officials at local facilities, though. Many viewed the merger as unsurprising in the marketplace — and indiscernible to patients.
